USAID Agrі Boosts CPG’s Aspirations for Developing Potato Products Ecosystem
As one of the largest potato and starch producers in Ukraine, at a meeting with farmers from Lviv region, we presented an updated collaboration format for this year. The offer includes seed provision, agronomic support and crop contracting – all that’s necessary for establishing a systematic collaboration where everyone profits. Furthermore, the future ecosystem concept also considers other developmental aspects: potato storage, financing, government support, grants.
It’s noteworthy that this marks the 4th season of collaboration between CPG starch plant and the region’s farmers. Whereas last year the total volume of potatoes delivered under contracts amounted to 5,200 tons, the planned volume for 2024 has already reached 13,000 tons, with the list of suppliers expanding to 20 contractors.
The significant increase in potato cultivation volumes for processing by farmers was made possible thanks to the support of the USAID Agrі Program. Within this project, an innovative storage facility for temporary potato storage with a capacity of 6,500 tons will be constructed, necessary equipment for potato cleaning and storage will be purchased, and a ventilation system will be installed. Consequently, the potato processing season into starch will significantly extend, and the produced goods will be exported to global markets.
“The project is implemented thanks to the support of the American people, provided through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as part of the USAID Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI) Program, executed by Chemonics International”
